I found this ration pack on UK ebay, its 06/08 dated and they have the strawberry jam, vegimite, Tabasco and the fruit bits that I have in mine.

It would appear that the MOD has updated the packs a little.

I have seen some articles about them updating the British rations. I'll try to dig them up and get them posted.

This is all I could find quickly - it looks like the graphic excerpt from a full article but I'm not sure where the whole article is saved:

I can't imagine a General eating canned rations at all, much less 6 months straight...
Besides, when was the last time Compos were issued?

Compo rations I've read about them being used in the First Gulf War maybe a little after to get rid of the stocks they had, middle of the 1990's would be the lastest. The 'new' boil in the bag type rations came in late 80's early 90's. I dare say theres some tucked away in a dark store room somewhere forgotten about.

More on British multi-climate rations here: http://www.army.mod.uk/news/12110.aspx

Oreos? Chocolate chip cake? The word 'cookies' instead of 'biscuits'? Is it just me or is there a slight American touch here?

The tabasco I have seen in pictures of newer packs on ebay (07 and 08) has the MRE 4 number date stamp!
I guess the MOD bought a few thousand bottles to include in pack.
