It looks like the Butter Buds are in Menu #7 - Meatloaf:

I'm guessing they're for putting some butter flavoring in the very bland mashed potatoes.

Hey everyone I found some more 2008 MRE parts while scavaging today. These look even more delicious than the last photo I put up. Kman, in regards to your question...I think I did get the Butter Buds from a Menu #7 (Meatloaf) though I'm not sure.

These entree's are:

Granola, Dehydrated with Milk and Blueberries: Hmm...does sound pretty good. Have to give it a try

Apple Butter: Hmmm....not sure on this one. May pass on it

Toffee, Chocolate Coated: Sounds good...course saying that it reminds me of the Chocolate Toffee bars in the old MCI's and C-rats. Hmmmm...I'll have to give that a try.

If you get a chance to try it, I'd love to see what that Granola looks like all prepared.

You know, that's a good question and I don't know how I would describe it...I guess it's just an apple-ly, buttery sort-of spread.

Housil

A good explanation is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_butter :)

If the granola is anything like the IMP counterpart then it might not be too bad.
