scale the Meal on the bag at the picture, so you will see, size is not different as usual.
i have seen many mres like this, the newer ones i have are getting worser and worser in qualitiy of package.
i also had 2007 produced, very bad sealed, very bad packed, sometimes menue number or production date signed with hand and so on.
bye

Ameriqual seems to have their own way of producing MREs. For the longest time, they had those MRE bags that were different from Sopakco's and Wornick's - the ones with the repeating pattern instead of the single MRE design. Now that it looks like they've been forced to use the standard MRE design, they've started using a different method of printing the menu names on the bags.
From looking at the image German_EPA posted, it looks like it's a two-line menu listing printing with some kind of dot-matrix printer. I've seen similar printing on an MCW from Ameriqual.

I contacted someone at Ameriqual quite a while back and asked him why they had that repeating pattern. He said that their bags and made and printed in long tube form and since the tube is continuous, they needed to print it like that so they could cut the bag anywhere and then create the top and bottom seals. The other contractors must have a different process for making the bags that allows them to establish the "bottom" and "top" for printing to be placed correctly. Makes sense to me.

CaptBob - thanks! That's the best explanation I've heard of for why they print the bags that way.
Of course, I guess it doesn't really matter any more with the new MRE bag designs...no way they can print those in a repeating pattern!
