German submarines U 34 kitchen

Post by housil »

German submarine U 34 is the worlds most modern submarine as it has the fuel cell technology additional to it´s Diesel engine, but not a nuclear reactor

Today on German TV, a report about the ships kitchen and cook.

Note: Modern don´t have to mean "big"...

Cool video - thanks for the link!

Since I only understood about 1 word out of 100, what were they fixing for that meal?

The meal is called "Labskaus" and is a very norther sailors delicacy for hundrets of years. The name comes from the English name/word "lobscouse" or "lout’s course "

Labskaus:

is made from:

(corned) beef, potatoes, onions, bet root, pickles => all thrue the meatgrinder, now add an agg (sunny side up) and some rolled pickled herring.

I wouldn´t eat it, I´m not "norther" enough...

Thanks, housil - I kept hearing "Labskaus" so that explains it.

I think it actually looks pretty good!
