This might be useful for you kman, to add some history on rations.

http://www.qmfound.com/army_subsistence_history.htm

The site is a little low on pictures.

Thanks, DirtyDave. I'm pretty familiar with that site. That's the place I used to get a lot of the history that's up on the main MRE page on the web site. The info on the QM site isn't too up to date but it does have some good historical stuff in there.

Hey Guys,
Just took a look at the Quatermaster Web Page, and I was surprised that most of the comments or predictions as far as meals go weren't to far off in the near future. :o I was wondering which meals they kept and which ones they scraped? I would be curious to find out some of the reasons of the ones they scraped? It would probably make for some good dialogue on this forum. :D

From what I've read, they do field trials of new MRE parts and pieces to see which ones the soldiers like best. They also ask for their comments about which parts they don't like and then use those comments to decide which parts to remove.

At least, that's how they say the manage the process.
