I've always thought of becoming a golf club, err, I mean, I've always wondered about the U.S. Gov't. putting "rubbers" in some survival kits. I've heard 3 things about it. Water-proofing some of the other contents of the kit. Carrying water(excuse me, but in order to fill a condom with water, one must have a pressurized water source), so thats a definate No-Go. Then theres the 3rd. idea. Downed American pilot in enemy cornfield. See's nearby female worker picking corn, then well, use your imagination.
After the Chicken and the Egg, came the "Omelet"!

the 3rd option???? hmmmmm... although it sounds tempting ...BUT... is better to use the head topside , not the one below....

This way of thinking has been used by the enemy for years to kill ,injure or capture GI's....from WWII, Korea....to 'Nam and the Gulf!!!

Simple....Keep you mind focused on the objective of the mission.....Keep yourself and your team...ALIVE!!!! :D

PEACE!!!

...then the female worker turns out to be a simpatizer or part of the insurgency /enemy. Either slits the pilot's throat or his "Mr Johson" with razor blades inserted in her privates or because of his lack of judgement got caught by the enemy and then he will pay the price of his stupidity.....

Let's hope the pilot thinks( don't do it!!!) and don't do a "Hollywood" and after doing the 3rd option he simply shoots her...c'mon.....

Peace!

DD,

The condom I think was a more recent introdcution in the survival kits. I did hear some time ago that condoms (non-lubricated) are great at storing water if you have to be on the move. You really don't have to have a pressurized water source to fill it. Just enough to fill it and stay alive.

And "yes" the British SAS survival kits get a lot more goodies in them.

You are right. The British kits have a rubber also. I still think they are more for placing other kit contents into for water-proofing than for carrying water. I believe it was the 1964 movie, Dr. Strangelove, or how I Learned to Stop Worrying, and Love the Bomb, that the B-52 Pilot called for his crewmembers to check their survival kits, and a specific item was several condoms. A guy can have a pretty good in Dallas with all that.
