Well, now that we're off topic with this topic, I think the Red Chinese put some invisible grease on the floor and the bars, so the American Ladies Gymnasts' would fail. They fell off the bar, they fell on their butt. At least we have Super Fish. I admire a dolphin with human arms. LOL. (I don't follow the Olympics, I just saw a snippet or 2 at the office. 8) PS, why is that guy not a SEAL? :?:

Dear aquarius,

A couple of postings ago you wrote:
A 1000 US troops were in Georgia when it started the attack into S-Ossetia! Oh what a coincidence. Oh what a suprise.
What the %&$# is anyone thinking these Americans troops were doing over there at the very moment the war started? Instructing Georgian troops how to eat MRE's?
Okay, here is a bit of reserch I found to answer this, I found this article on the U.S. Army web page:

Humanitarian team arrives in Georgia
Posting by Air Force Staff Sgt. Ricky A. Bloom

August 22, 2008

Soldiers and airmen from the 21st Theater Sustainment Command arrive on the flight line in Tbilisi, Georgia, Aug. 18. The 21st is part of European Command's (EUCOM) Joint Humanitarian Assistance Assessment Team and are working closely with other elements of the federal government, international governments, aid agencies and the Republic of Georgia to help bring aid to the Georgian people.

This would make sense since it appears that the Humanitarian Team has been in country when the outbreak started. I don't have any more information on what they did or what other capacity they are doing but for future reference try to post your comments in a question form to see if anybody might know an answer or to generate discussion rather than going off on some sort of tangent. :)

Yea, exactly. Whats that crap about Ruskies taking 4 hummers? What else have they taken? Now that the Olimpics are finished, Russia will probably get their head out of their ass, and get the hell out of there, or else.

How dare those damn americans actually have the nerve to go into another country and offer humanitarian aid.

shortly afterward, the Marines were ordered
to not wear their khaki leggings.

Aha, the US Army spokesmen call it humanitarian aid. Yeah right, suppose they had send Special Forces - do you think they would admit it? The US government lied about someting important as the WMD in Iraq, so why should they now tell us the truth?
A country can donate money, human resources an equipment to the International Red Cross, to Medecins Sans Frontiers and a hundred other humanitairian organisations. Or it can send soldiers. What would you prefer?
Sending in soldiers very prior to an outbreaking war is a bit suspicous, at the very least. Or better, it should make you suspicious.
Maybe I am wrong, but I try to be very sceptic about what my goverment and the media is telling me. History has seen too many conspiracies to take things for granted. Wake up and ask!

i think i will get my information from fairly reliable news sources. aquarius what you are saying is your opinion and while you are certainly entitled to your opinion it is just that. you have no sources to back up your skepticism, only rants that sound increasingly hostile towards the U.S. i dont agree with everything we have done but i still love my country. if not for the U.S the world would be a much worse place. so i will take your posts with a grain of salt as you should mine for they are only one mans opinion.

Soldiers - or airmen, sailors or marines for that matter. Look at the Asian tsunami. Who provided the fastest and most effective response? The Australian, NZ and US military, who had men and women on the job while the NGOs were still debating the most acceptable gender/ethnicity for their media spokesperson.

This information is from www.globalsecurity.org under :Georgia

"The U.S launched in 2002 a 2 year,$64 million military assistance program, referred as "Train and Equip"(GTEP) to create three batallions and one motorized company meeting NATO standards. following the succesfull conclusion of that program in 2004, a follow-on initiative was launched with comparable funding to train and equip 4,000 georgian servicemen."
Global security.org

Hmmmm....no wonder their uniforms are either US surplus ( ones even looks like MARPAT!!!!! ) or pretty good copies. the kevlar helmets identical to the old US ones and if I recall they found and captured a HUGE cache os M-4's and M16A2's!!!!!!!!! :?: :?: :?: :?:
As I kept reading more of this info, it shows that besides their 5 infantry brigades they also have a Special Ops group and its subdivisions include a naval warfare and SPECOPS school.

So those 1,000 US personnel delivered all of this "humanitarian aid " to Georgia or it was the aliens working on behalf of NATO??????!!!!!!

I mean I'm no defending the russians either ,but they are not dumb as they have make us beleive and using Ms. Rice words " this is not 1988..." the russians are no longer in the disarray of the fall of the Soviet Union!!! .
They attacked strategic places ,including the training bases and the port of Poti to stop the US military aid brought in on behalf of NATO. They were watching and waiting for the "smoking gun"....and they found it. :?
Georgia has a strategic importance ,because it can be used as a launching pad for a possible attack of Iran from the north (simple look at the maps !) by bypassing Turkey which could probably say no if that scenario happens...

This is why some people get angry at us....because whe say one thing and DO another!!!
let's just hope whe don't start anything or go nuclear for this lil' skirmish.
As I said earlier diplomacy is tthe best option, not the "big stick"!!!

Peace!!!
