Mmmm, bring on the Kosher dill pickles.

I hate to be a 'train spotter', but is that a US 3-colour helmet cover? Interesting - I've only ever seen the IDF using plain OD, scrim nets, or those floppy 'shower cap' things.

IDF helmet cover

Post by donaldjcheek » Fri Aug 15, 2008 11:51 am

I think the "Caracal" battalion (patrols near the Jordanian border) uses 3-color camo on occasion. However, judging by the blue shoulder loops, this is a picture of a training unit.

Israelis use a variety of equipment provided by the US, so camo covers would be both possible & probable. For several years the most highly-sought after item in the IDF inventory were surplus US OG-107 cotton fatigue trousers acquired during the 1973 Yom Kippur War. During the massive emergency airlift of ammunition, bundles of fatigue trousers somehow were used as padding between boxes & crates.

Baldy,

You are quite correct, sir. It is a 3 colour tri desert helmet cover. The IDF does use some US camouflage uniforms, though its different depending on each unit and each unit specilaities. Some infantry units do use 3 colour tri desert while some us the OD cotton sateen uniforms as you see pictured. Though it's hard tell sometimes.

That lady has an American made M-4 carbine across her lap, she's p.o.'ed, and thats all she has to eat? I guess it's all acceptable at least. If I was an Israeli Soldier, I'd want, never mind. I thought we made Kosher/Halal Mre's for inside use and sales overseas also. I could be wrong. :?:

DD,

Oh yeah we make them all right, why the IDF doesn't have a good supply or for use in their supply lines I am really not sure. Maybe we could start a Hallal/Kosher MRE company and exclusively sell them to the IDF? Think of the possibilites! :D

The Kosher and Halal rations are a commercially available product that is available from My Own Meals Their entree products are also individually available in retort pouches or trays. Their military full meal MRE packages are available to the general public.

Well, as I once wrote on the forum, I've seen (and eaten!) some Israeli made RCIR entrées used by the French army 20 years ago (they were not bad at all!) .
I think they have a food industry able to make some very correct MRE-like ration but maybe they just do'nt like that kind of food?

Thats a darned good idea. We sold them their F-16I's, which forthwith, they are going to bomb the crap out of Iran(I hope they nail that little big mouth also) and since we have this huge MRE machine, we should send our pals, the Israelis' some Kosher MRE's. I mean, the pork stuff is out, but the rest is OK
