I'm sure any cases that hit the water were thrown at someone and have long since been eaten! On the news this am. I saw a flatbed semi loaded with pallets of MREs, it was beautifull.I will tell my friend about your concern,it is valid. My suggestion was trade case for case,12 meals,24 Bud's.Food they've got, beer they don't!
Ye who live by the sword, get shot by We that don't!

I have a feeling that any whole cases that show up for adoption will not have been distributed anywhere around N.O., so I wouldn't worry too much about the "toxic stew" (sounds like that may be a new menu item in '06?)
I understand that most of the "distributed" MRE's are still being held at forward distribution points (primarily in Mississippi). Once they leave the temperature controlled warehouse, however, they cannot be returned to inventory. So, if they aren't consumed, where do they all go?

Don't forget the story of one of our fellow MREInfo forum members from last year. He's a member of the Alabama National Guard and was at his unit last year after all the hurricane relief was done. Someone drove up with a truckload of MREs and asked if anyone wanted them. If no one took them, they were just going to be thrown away because they couldn't be returned to the warehouse.

ALoha. I have been assisting with Relief on the MS Gulf Coast. It is a mess and yes there are tons of MRE's. Our compound is shared with REG army. Stacks upon stacks. Most works get fed in a chow line in the am and PM. Lunch is left to your own devices or MRE's. Most case I have used are May 2005. I will have more info later. Traveling 7 days a week 10 hrs a day.......tired.....

Love the site. I am a climber/backpacker and been a fan of MRE's for years.... I work for the US ARMY Corps of ENG. They have us in high gear on the Mississippi gulf coast. I have been at Waveland. Got a few good pics of Blackhawks bringing in water and MRES. I am proud to be working with all the diff FED/State and Local agencies. Its very hot but living conditions are getting better. Its nice to drive up to a supply site and have them thow a case in the back of your vehicle while giving a hearty smile and Hoooha.

I was told that IMP's and Brit Rats are comming. I have not seen them yet. They may be desginated to other areas??? I will keep my eyes open. I want to do a "in"field test of them. Most of the guys I work with wont eat MRE's unless forced too. I doubt they will eat IMP's or Brit Rats.
It may be days or hours before I can reply. Cheers all and keep the info comming.

If you get a chance to post any pictures, that'd be great. Alternatively, if you don't have to time to crop/post them, feel free to email them to me (click the email icon below) and I can take care of that for you.

I think I read on these forums somewhere that Germany was also sending a bunch of EPAs (German rations) over.
