That reminds me, I really really really really really need to get the MCW page up - all I have up right now is the RCW page.
And it looks like it's the old "Ration, Cold Weather" that you're describing, MCIera. Those are the rations that used the A/B system. The newer Meal, Cold Weathers (MCWs) just look like regular MREs but with a white bag and the same Mountain House food inside:

You can see the menus on that page above. They've changed since the RCWs but you can still probably put your own together pretty easily.

Thanks for explaining that and I do understand the reason why MCW's cost so much but, I have recently seen a case of MCW's go on EBay for anywhere from 70-120 dollars and I'm sure for more as well.MCIera wrote:Again, the MCW uses freeze dried entree components that cost more than the retort entree component in a MRE. If you're interested in assembling your own version of a RCW or MCW/LRP, you're in luck, most of the components are available commercially on the retail market. As a matter of fact, if you take a look at many of the components of a RCW, (I think someone had made a post with pictures, maybe Norge?) you can see that many of the components are indeed commercially available items that can be found in retail stores.
As an example for the RCW
Bag A:
Oatmeal - Use two of the envelopes of the commercial stuff
Nut Raisan Mix - Trail Mix (your choice)
Cocoa powder, Apple Cider Mix, Chicken Noodle Soup - commercial items
Fruit bar - Fig Newtons, commercial package
Crackers - there's a lot out there, your choice
Bag B:
Entree - Mountain House Pro-Pak
Granola bars - commercial items
Oatmeal bars - commercial items
Choclate cookie or brownie - MRE item
Orange Beverage powder - Kool-Aid
Candy Toffee Roll - commercial item
Choclate Covered Disk - substitute commercial item
Lemon Tea - substitute commercial item

I like the MRE prices for 45 bucks per case...but the MCW's look expensive!! 95bucks a case!! WOW![]()
So, 95 bucks still seems a little too high for me...but, I'd still like to have a case

Thanks again!

You need to have your money into Brian by July 11 in order to take part in the buy.
they have also added CANNED BACON to the buy. only 4 dollars off, but still FREE SHIPPING which for me is worth about 20 or 30 bucks. They are out of the canned chicken and gone through more than half of the MCW.

The more I look at it, that definitely sounds like a great deal on everything. Especially seeing as if the order totals hit $50k, everyone gets an additional 5% off. If it hits $100k, then 10% extra off.
It's always a crap shoot as to what will happen with the hurricane season this year. The last two years were a bust. But if another bad hurricane or two hits the US this year, people will start going crazy for this stuff. Forget being able to get a good price...you'll be lucky to find it at all.

Yup kman, and almost 150 of the 200 MRE cases are now spoken for
That bacon is actually not a bad deal either. It is fully cooked, so each can represents the uncooked weight of at least 2.5-3 pounds of bacon, or more.
And the peanut butter packets are about half the price of what you could get them for at longlifefood, if the math I did last week is correct.

Unfortunately slowed down and stalled out this holiday weekend. Not sure if that means we will hit the 50K or not.BackwoodsPundit wrote:Also, we are almost to 30K now so we should hopefuly hit the 50K number easily.
There are 8 days remaining so if you are thinking about it sign up and if you are going to do it do the membership upgrade before the 13th to be sure and get your order in by the 15th.
