Seems like a lot of people are understanding that the US of A isn't as stable as it once was...
Good News Article about the new Urban Survivalists in the US
Seems like the paper is trying to whip up a lot of hype, just like a lot of the liberal news outlets try to do. I'm sure they'll print something next week that counteracts that report, but they did mention one minor point about stocking up for disasters. That's just common sense, Hurricane Katrina and Wilma all showed us what happens when the system fails.

As part of the U.S.A.'s Government Civil Defense initiatives survival drums were strategically placed in parts of the country and in many buildings. According to the article this is not common practice though strategic placement of supplies does exist. These pictures of just three floors above me shows evidence of a by-gone era.
I'm a 9-11 survivor. It turns out years later that there was a cache of survival supplies in of all places The Brooklyn Bridge. Had I known they were there I would have used it. But our genius city government had no idea anything was even placed there.
I could not get any closer to the drums form where I stood. There is a very loud audible (barking), ear piercing alarm that protects this stairway.
Here is a summary of the drums contents.

KMan:
Since I could not get near the drum I could not examine for contents. The klaxon that lines the stairway protects intruders from entering the roof.
The drum however is probably emptied of its original contents.
I heard there was some strange ordinance passed that removed these drums throughout the city probably not long after they were employed.

What the hell is a "survivalist". Enlighten me. Just because some ex-military folks like to eat MRE's and shoot guns, especially down in the Dirty South, what the hell is a "survivalist. Being ready for a disturbance is one thing. Being a nut job like David Koresh and his crew is another story. They got what they deserved.

Yea people like that give survivalist a bad name. Its just a fancy word for being ready for (nearly) anything.
If anyone is intrested in preparedness
Zombiehunters.org aka ZombieSquad is a very good place to start. It may seem like another zombie site but really thats just a fun way of talking about preparedness.
