Trip report Dec. 13.-16.

As last year, we also went to see the Nuts-Weekend events at Bastogne area this year again.

First stop over was "Siegfried line", where they had hundrest of km with these "Dragon teeth" to stop approaching tanks. Next stop over was at "Elsenborn Ridge". You can still see the foxholes there.
US aid station Each foxhole has a sign explaining in four languages so we walked all that memorial and decided to have lunch there, also in the snow at subzero and a very chilly wind as back in 44... It was so cold, the gas flame of the stove turned off but at least, we got the MREs warm and ate off the trunk

Next stop over was the Museum at Baugnez, where the Malmedy massacre took place. with great displays inside From Baugnez to La Gleize, where the German advance got stuck at least and they had to abandoned their vehikles due to the lack of gas and walk back to the German lines.

Next event was "Manhay", were a battle took place on Christmas day

Mine too, bucket list for sure. Would love to see Bastogne someday, and bring my boys to share in the experience.

My grandfather was up high in a b17/29 fortress and/or b24 liberator (not Bastogne that i know of) but i cant imagine what level of hell our boys went through on the ground.

Im sure we have all seen it, but watch Band of Brothers, if you havnt
