Your Collection?

Post by Simon2002mre » Tue Oct 17, 2017 10:20 pm

Well, I didn't see this already made, so I decided to start it off.
(I think all of the photos are sideways but if you click on them they should right themselves)
Here is my display "Case" of all the cooler stuff I have obtained.
Here is one half

And the other half here

Thanks to Steve1989 my Vietnam Era M1 helmet is now complete with a carton of cigs, TP, my own supplied matches and "Bug spray" (Old super glue, but it works) :o

A fun little display of old candies, (I have been trying to collect more of those old old candies, but they sure are hard to find! :)
photo 4.JPG
And two of my all time favorite International rations, I need to add more to their but I haven't refurbished them yet.

So that is my collection which is growing everyday! What does yours look like? Can you put my collection to shame
Let's get this feed going!
Cheers everybody! :)

I think there is a thread, but I did a cursory search and couldn't find it, so I'll just add to this one. :)

You have great collection started! I started with just a case of US MREs until a couple of generous members here helped me break into international rations. Now it has snowballed  . . . .

The crown jewel of my collection is an original WW2 K-ration. Also in the case is an original WW2 D ration.

I have two collections. One is for eating / selling / trading, and the other is for collecting only. Here is the eating collection:

The display-only collection has items dating back to the Revolutionary War (a fork), and also includes a couple original Civil War mess items. The collection includes not only rations, but ration-related items like mess cups and utensils, and some miscellaneous historical items like WW2 matchbooks from rations and officer's clubs.

It continues to grow, and negotiations are underway with the Mrs. to expand onto another shelf.

It'll happen, just give it time. :) It all started with one case of MREs, and a very patient and tolerant wife. ;)

I have to ask. Why the MRE tan bag dated 1996-1997 in the do-not-consume group? Because it was the first year for the Tan bag?

And, most importantly, good luck with the negotiation talks. Being married myself, I am well aware of the gravity of that situation.

Just to maintain a sealed one from that era in the collection, since they become rarer and rarer each year. I try to set aside one sealed one each time there is a major change like packaging.
