Personally I prefer a long video, I don't watch TV in my own home so an hour or two of looking at stuff I'm interested on YouTube IS my TV so I don't watching a long video about some automotive related thing or about rations or whatever. I get frustrated if it's split up sometimes because I like to get an in depth, comprehensive view of it. However, I can understand that some people don't have the patience for long videos

Some of the viewers skip parts of the video anyway. Since some time I try to cut the obvious parts like unpacking and showing every item (I will describe it anyway after arranging). The Youtube is so clever that it remembers where you stopped to watch the video - so it shouldn't a problem to return. I had also comments that 40 min is too long.
One thing which I can see always by multi-part vids is that the first part has more views that the next ones.
