Your recording setup, camera, editing software

My recording setup is very "basic". All the cameras or phones I had were too old to record a decent movie, so I bought an used Toshiba Camileo H20 camera for $50 - just to start and gain experience. The next purchase was a cheap softbox light. It looks not impressive, but inside there is a fluorescent bulb with 600W power what corresponds to 1500W of normal bulb. Before that I tried to use some table lamps etc, but they were too weak.

I record on my kitchen eating table, nothing special. I bought also a smaller tripod, because the big Manfrotto I have was too big to put on the table and not convenient to use from the floor

Editing: I started with iMovie on the Mac, but it drove me crazy - 1 hour of loading the movie clips before the editing can start.... Now I switched to Windows Movie Maker.
The disadvantage of this camera is a weak mic recording also a lot of noises, there is no possibility to connect an external mic. Lately I found a VideoPad editing suite, which is very easy to use and the Audio editing can reduce the noise very good. I will buy it or I have to change the camera.
The still pictures are made using an old Sony DSC-H10

Maybe because it is an Aussie soft . It is really nice, you can buy modules - in m case I need two (VIdeo and Wavepad) - $50 each - now they have promotion for $35 until March 15th. I used it in evaluation period. It helped me also to fix my problem with video frame ratio (an old camera)

Maybe a softbox like that would be good. Not sure where I'd place it though
I get such horrible reflections in my metal trays!
The two black spotlights I have closest to my camera are basically unusable right now because:
1. I use "normal" 2800K (similar to incandescent) bulbs in them while the big gray ones on the sides use 4000K (and super bright), which as closer to daylight temperature. I picked 4000K lamps for the repair work I do there, but I didn't realize how badly is messes up the image when you mix lights like that
2. They're spotlights so they illuminate .. well.. a spot, rather than the whole desk, so I get a small bright area of 2800K light and the surrounding area is lit by 4000K... which is darker because those lamps are farther away..
3. They're not diffuse enough so the light basically goes straight down, bounces off of the metal tray then straight back up into the camera. Might as well put a mirror there

The big downside with NOT using the spotlights is that as I move objects closer to the camera for close-ups, I don't have an actual light source illuminating them
Why is everything so complicated!? BAH!

The softbox scatters the light - it is soft, but the reflections remain. When I take picture, often have to take it from another angle to avoid reflections. What can I say... - change the tray
BTW - I have just eaten similar rilettes de porc (but not roti)

2 triple bulb lamps
1 overhead bulb and one stretchy reach (..?) bulb lamp
$1ea black background posterboard from Walmart - I have spent approx $600 so far in replaced background - it soils fast from Ration crumbs/spills.
I like the satisfying feeling I get when putting down new surface right before a shoot.

Same feeling I get when I change the paper on the chicken coops. Fresh and clean, until they crap all over it. Circle of life
