I'm sure many of you are extremely frustrated with shipping prices for international deliveries! They are absolutely ridiculous. What's your shipping company of choice? Mine here in the UK is definitely the Royal Mail - they are sometimes a 5th of UPS prices. I'd love to hear your feedback

From Poland to USA the best choice is still Polish Post/USPS, I heard however that they will rise the prices
Within Europe is the post or courier services, if a parcel is about 5 kg it is cheaper to ship via courier e.g. DPD - I did it to Ireland and Croatia.
When using the courier services I start with an "courier broker" -these websites compare services and sending is cheaper than at the courier company directly

Ah, I see. Problem is there's just too many couriers!

What would be your preferred company for cross Atlantic shipping? (e.g. for cases of MREs)

Compared to other countries, it seems German Post (= DHL) seems to be one of the cheapest.
UPS is close to an heart attack if you ask quotes...

Not to mention how descriptive UPS wants you to be when you ship something, you can't simply put "camping supplies", they won't allow you. I had one of my packages stopped and taken apart by customs because of that.

Even DHL doesn't come close to Royal Mail prices. 10€ or 70€, I think i know which I'd prefer

In Sweden DHL seems to be purely an express courier service comparable to UPS, so I don't think it's fair to compare national postal service to DHL in other countries like that. It's probably just a different set of services they offer abroad, so maybe it's the same way in the UK as here.
Here in Sweden the national postal service (Postnord) also seems to be the "cheapest" option, but after I've had a few inquiries from forum members regarding trades for Swedish rations, I think the general concensus is that Swedish postage is insanely expensive. Bad news for me as I fear I'll be missing out on some good trades unless I want to spend a fortune on shipping and turn a good deal into a bad one.

In the US, to send packages internationally the cheapest option is usually US Postal Service, but they are still pretty brutal on pricing. Last time I checked, UPS was significantly higher.

I send/receive a cpl international ration packages a month and the shipping rates overall are insane! Shipping a case of any rations from Europe to USA is usually around $100 or more; USA to Europe even worse... If I had known I was gonna spend as much on shipping as the hobby itself, I might have picked something else. Too late now...
