I was amazed and delighted this morning to open up Gizmodo and catch an article on someone eating rations from the civil war era.... ay-ah... it's our Steve1989

Go Steve1989! We should all chip in and buy him from food from 2016 just so he doesn't forget what modern-day chow tastes like.
So what do you use to "cleanse your palette" after eating some Civil War hardtack? Taco Bell would be tops on my list.

I've seen the video (been waiting a LONG time for this one!), but hadn't seen the Gizmodo piece! Congratulations on yet another big media score Steve! He's singlehandedly taking our little "odd" hobby/interest into the mainstream--whether people want it to be there or not! Go Steve!!!

And I'm surprised at Steve's courage.

Thanks guys - glad some folks enjoyed the video for what it was - sharing a historical item and taking it to the next level by sampling it. I have a lot to say about people's points of view on this and other videos of old/rare Rations I have shared.. most of it has been overwhelmingly positive so I have to just focus on that.
Kman, I cleaned my palate with some 1986 Coffee Instant, Type 1. I would rather eat some 47 year old dehydrated meat bar than Taco Bell by this point.. okay maybe that's an exaggeration. .. but close! heheh
And no need to pitch in for anything - you guys have given me more than I could ever want with your kindness and giving me a venue to share this stuff for the years I was actively doing reviews here. Sometimes, i just wish this was all I was doing still - photo/written reviews.
And Laughing_Man - do you like the map of Okinawa? It is made out of fabric and I think is hand-sewn. And I am so glad you got to see the video!
Thanks so much to all you guys - coulda never done it without you all.

I definitely noticed some of the nice little touches in the video as well. The Phil Collins album was pretty obvious of course, but I also enjoyed seeing Gundog4314's calling card sitting on the wall in the back! And, also the photo of Michael Beihn in the background as well. Some of that stuff might not have ration-relatedness, but obviously mean something to Steve personally. Nice touches!
