I thought I would share some pictures of the gift for my grandpa's 94th birthday. He was released from active duty in 1943.
It is a canteen dated 1918. Issued in 1942. Complete with cover and cup. Hope you like it.

That is a very good example of a WW 1 re-tread. Can you still tell who made the Canteen, Cup or carrier? Tell Grandpa happy birthday from the board. Although he may find our hobby strange

Re-tread?
The stamp on the canteen is: U.S. 1918 BA.CO.
I don't know why some of the pictures loaded like they did.

Tell your grandfather it was made by
Buckeye Aluminum Co. (BA Co.) 772 Spruce street Wooster (Wayne County) Ohio U.S.A.

Sorry Wolf
Retread is a term used for WW 1 equipment being refurbished and reused in WW 2 or WW 2 items or Men who served in WW 2 being sent to Korea.

OK, I understand, just haven't heard or seen that term used in a while.

Beautiful canteen, rabidwolf! Don't part with such a gem - they don't make 'em like they used to!
