Many years ago on Youtube I ran across this video:
And finally found out what the top lid for the mess tin is and who makes it.
It was manufactured by Penrith Survival Equipment Ltd, which appears to be out of business or has no online presence, and the item in question is a Teflon coated frying pan lid for one half of a British mess tin kit.
There is one company that makes a similar item, although I have no clue as to what it's like quality wise, and if it's worth a purchase.

To me, this design concept coupled with something similar to the JNA Yugoslavan Mess Kit would seem really neat.
Interesting mess kit concept

HM Supplies doesn't offer shipping to the US on their site, but you could contact them to see if they'll ship state-side. If I were in the UK, it seems like a plenty reasonable price assuming it's at least ok quality, but once you start tacking on international shipping and potential export taxes that may change. Definitely a neat concept!

I can get one (or more) from the UK to GER, but don´t know how much shipping will be. From GER -> to US it will be (for a 4 lbs (uninsured)parcel) €16.
So if any of you guys wants to have it, lets see what we can do
