Survival Food Bars

I was not sure which topic this would fall under, soooooo..... I recently came across several of the survival food bars, the kind that came in the dark brown, nearly-impossible-to read-the-label, foil pouch. They were given to me as a gift, but I had them buried in my basement and almost forgot I had them. They consist of the cornflake cereal bar, chocolate chip bar, granola bar, and shortbread cookie bar. Since I don't know of any rations which still include these bars, I'm wondering if they are still safe to eat. I cannot find any codes on the wrappers, but I would think that unless they contain dairy products they should still be safe. Does anyone know about the shelf life on these bars?

Got a dog?
Or a kid you're not that fond of?
Personally, I would just do the sniff and nibble tests. It's kind it's kind of like not minding a little dirt in your food. Probably good to give your gut bacteria a heartier bit of exercise every now and then.
We may very well be "Sanitizing" ourselves into actually unhealthiness. Our bodies/our immune systems/etc. need the occasional stress test/workout to perform at their best.
As a great man once said, "What's the use of science if nobody gets hurt?"

If do you meant this ones:
Mine have a date code
Due to their high content in carbs/sugar, I wouldn´t mind about their age. They don´t spoil as any other high sugar thing like jam

Thanks housil, those are exactly what I have! I kinda figured they'd be ok, did the drop test.....dropped one on my bare toe and it hurt like @#$!

You also made a great point rattattoo about our guts needing some exercise, thanks!

Those are tan (one is grey) and not dark brown, but despite that fact those should be the ones you mentioned...

Thanks mreheater72, they are nearly identical except for the color of the wrapper.
