Hi everyone,
This topic is a bit a of a mix up. When ever I go camping I try to take a ration with me and try to take some photo's and notes of the taste and of my surroundings. These wont be in chronological order, but It will give me a chance to reviews some great rations and show you all some more of Australia.
Part One:
Bluff Rock, about 20 k's south Of Tenterfield in northern New South Wales (NSW).
Bluff Rock is right on the highway near where I grew up. There is a BBQ and picnic area for viewing about 1k away. There are plenty of these rest area's on our main roads, often with BBQ's toilets and when I head to mum and dads I try to stop off, heat up something for lunch.

Bluff Rock, is large Granite monolith
There are mixed reports of a massacre( http://www.rymich.com/girraween/index.p ... bluff_rock ). These happened all too often in the 19th century, not our finest hour.
The stop is a great little area with picnic tables lots of shade and huts with BBQ's. I forgot to take a photo so I will upload one later.
I had a spare civilian MRE entree and a Flameless Ration Heater.

Done (I hope)
This was great, a little Tabasco or BBQ sauce would have made it perfect :D .

This the view from the Top of Cunningham's Gap about two hours further north of Bluff Rock. Cunningham's gap is the road over the mountain and down to the ocean plain. Although the Great Dividing Range is not a tall mountain range it is a particularly rugged range. There are four ways to my parent farm and all of them have steep climbs through narrow gap.

The lookout is about a 10 min walk from the carpark.
There is also a longer Rainforest loop walk that takes around 4 hours
Well I hope everyone has had a great weekend.

Looks like a beautiful area Yowie, thanks for sharing pics and info! Just curious about a couple things: how is the sodium content in that entree, and is this area that you were in anywhere near the alleged UFO activity hotspots or the alleged HAARP facility? I've often heard these things associated with an area called Great Sandy Desert.

Here's a place I camp on The Shenandoah
Some pictures of the river in the rain and mist
The Brisket had to much sauce and not enough meat
And sauce was way to sweet for me.
I wish they had made this thing dry, with more meat
The Mexican corn and cornbread were perfect sides and made the difference in filling me up.
.
Breakfast was mix of Retort pouch SPAM with MRE Hash browns and fruit
Coffee and MRE drink mix
Everything is cooked boil in the bag style, leaving little clean up, only the plastic plate.

I do cook fresh food in the field, but lean to steaming small cuts of lean meat on a screen.
I boil vegetates like small red Potatoes or carrots in the Swede or German pot.
Set the meat on top and cover. The steam roll over the meat and it cooks without burning. The meat juice drips into the boiling vegetables. You get and decent fresh meal with little clean up and no burnt pots or pans
