Your blankets got washed?

In 10 years, I never saw a blanket cleaned...

Sheets, yes, every week, but I think wool needs dry cleaning?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we turned in the whole bundle for linen exchange... There were some problems with bed bugs and the like when I was there, so it was probably a good thing. I remember marching past one squadron that was surrounded by piles of mattresses; they had an infestation, so they had to dump all of their mattresses. I'm sure there was also some de-lousing of trainees involved. I've noticed that some of the Army barracks we sleep in now have the mattresses covered in plastic, underneath the outer cover. However, they obviously don't wash those often because some of them look absolutely disgusting. It's always a good idea to bring an extra sheet or blanket to provide an additional "buffer" between your sleeping bag and the nasty mattress. Also, earplugs--in case you get a snorer in your bay, and because every time someone rolls over the plastic makes a ton of noise.

I use Swedish wool blanket (green) I bought almost 10 years ago. It's thicker and denser than those from Holland and ex.Yugoslavia You can get here. Very useful in rainy conditions because when get wet it absorbs water but don't let it through. Also very warm (I slept in it in -10c few times).
