Sorry folks, but my puter is acting up again and I cannot find that posting I made asking about the system for reporting food poisoning in the NATO and other countries armed forces rations. I recall that I was asking about how bad RCIRs, EPAs and other rations that made soldiers sick were reported. Here in the U.S. military, cases of food poisoning from MREs are usually investigated by the Army Veterinary Service, whether suspected biological attack or simply improper storage of the rations. Thanks for any help.

in the 80's a sergeant in my regiment used to tell us he had a part of gut removed because of a spoiled pâté can but as that guy was joking all the time...

Thanks so much housil! I'm getting my puter worked on by a buddy who will be here today sometime, and he'll "clean it up" good. I am curious though, in the Bundeswehr what unit or section is responsible for investigating and taking action in event of food poisoning? I was not able to bring up the article on Bundeswehr members getting sick.

The medical guys are doing it. They are also responsible for hygiene, sanitation and disinfection etc.

Berlin Oct 13, 2011, 16:23 GMT - Food poisoning has sickened 206 NATO soldiers who ate in a German army canteen at Mazar-i-Sharif in northern Afghanistan, defence authorities in Berlin said Thursday.
They said the 138 Germans and 68 military from other nations quickly had quickly recovered from the symptoms and overall fighting strength was not affected.
All had eaten Wednesday at the canteen in the ISAF regional headquarters in Mazar-i-Sharif. The kitchen was disinfected and preparation of meals resumed there on Thursday. Army scientists were still hunting for the source of the infection.

And of course the lack of good water in many areas does not help the situation.

True about the water situation. I was deployed to Saudi Arabia in 1991 for Operation Desert Storm and we were cautioned about the drinking water. We were only allowed to use bottled water for consumption and brushing our teeth and ALL other was BANNED!
That coupled with being relegated to MREs for the first 2 weeks in country, we were in quite a pickle, if you know what I mean.

No need to got war to get bad water. Even in vacation in Northern Africa (Egyt), we got "belly trouble" and were not allowed to use nor drink the faucet water, not even for teeth brushing as you mentioned
