I envy you, old man, I was yesterday at a joint romanian-US exercise here and I wanted to buy some MREs. The US guys said "we barely have for ourselves"... So, no MREs for me...

Great pics, housil! I used to love the medical training we did in the Massachusetts national guard. But I gotta say the Bundeswehr has just about the coolest looking gear and systems; one thing I always hoped for was to get a look inside a Marder or Fuchs vehicle. I'm curious, does the Bundeswehr have tracked ambulances similar to our ancient M-113s or do you guys still use the wheeled vehicles? Also, what kind of weapons are Bundeswehr medics issued with, if any?

At colds war times, we used the same M-113.
Nowaday´s they realized for the "three block war" (like Iraq, Afghanistan) wheeled armoured vehikles are faster and more mobile so they are the better ambulance than tracked one´s. They are also more comfortable for the patient.

The first armoured one was the "Fuchs" wheeled tank:

They always have a driver, a paramedic and an ER Doctor(!) as crew, same as a German civilan ACLS ambulance.

Usually they are equipped with the same weapons than the regular soldier, even the ER doc´s have a G36 and a pistol.

I was teaching for a year to become (civilian) paramedic´s. They are one year at school and spend their second year of education at a civilian EMS station to get trained at real patiens with real emergencies

Thanks so much for pics housil and for answering questions! You people sure have some cool looking vehicles, I have built several plastic models of Bundeswehr Fuchs, Luchs, and other armored stuff. Unfortunately I currently have issues with claustrophobia so I don't think that any of these vehicles or ours here in the states would be very fun to ride around in with hatches shut, lol! I'm also glad to see that the Bundeswehr cares enough about its medics and doctors to arm them well.
