Friday night in western Massachusetts
Some friends and I just finished watching the re-make of John Carpenter's "The Fog" for about the third time. Interesting movie, although the fog itself is not caused by a top-secret government project ripping a hole into other dimensions like "The Mist" the lack of sci-fi stuff still makes for a good movie. We also discussed the whole subject of Ley Lines and Tumulous(?) places in Scotland, which a couple of them have been studying. How is everyone else's night going?

Re: Friday night in western Massachusetts
I wish I had work but I was recently laid-off from my job and it is hard to find work here. My military training was in chemical defense and medical, but most EMT and emergency management places around me are not looking to hire at all. BTW housil, what is the wording on the front of the vehicle in your picture?

Come over here, we hire.rationtin440 wrote:I wish I had work
30 days paid vacation each year, health- unemployed- retirement- nursing- and accidentinsurance, paid sick days as long as your Doctors write you a note, no need of a 2nd job, 38.5 hrs/5 days a week...
It´s the German word "Rettungsdienst" means "Emergency Medical Service".rationtin440 wrote: what is the wording on the front of the vehicle in your picture?
All ambulances look the same in the State so everybody can recognize them, now matter what "company" operates them.

(That´s the county station I´m the leader of)
All vehicles say "EMS" (="Rettungsdienst" litteraly "rescue service"), on top, side and rear it say´s the organisation that operates the ambulance as here "German Red Cross".
We neither have fire department at EMS (or do you buy your bread at the butcher?!

We (EMS) are not allowed to make any profit, we also don´t charge peoples over here as everybody has health insurance (even homeless or refuges or...) so the insurance pays for everything - even if a refugee needs a heart transplant...
Our lifeflight
bringing the ER Doc to any scene, back up the ambulance crew.

Tired. I had 2 dives saturday and was frigid water, so I'm exhausted. It's 9 PM here and I'm going to sleep.

wow!
The same like in the US....
If you don't have money and even with an insurance you get stuck with a life wrecking bill.
Here everything IS for a profit, even EMS, Hospitals, everything related to health.

Really? I have an First Aid/Basic Life Support certificate and an Emergency situation intervention specialist, one of only 14 in Romania (yes, FOURTEEN). I'd like to change the landscape, to learn something new and get some money for mountaineering gear, Bayern looks full of mountains good to climbing...housil wrote:

Are you related to the Red Cross? You need to be an Red Cross EMT (13 weeks of training (4 weeks of Basic medical school, 4 weeks in hosptial, 4 weeks at ACLS ambulance, one weeks of graduation test = 160 hrs))
You need a truck drivers license "C1" (up to 7.5 tons)
Romania is Europa so you don´t need a work permit.
We just have to increase your German skills

But we are in northern bavaria, our highest hills are just 600mtrs.

Re: Friday night in western Massachusetts
Thanks for the offer housil, but I'm afraid that with my type 2 diabetes I might not be able to get the meds I would need. Here in America there is talk about rationing healthcare so that only those citizens who are essential to "society" will get what they need right away and everyone else will get whatever is left when/if it is available. Please don't mis-understand me housil, I'm not saying that your country does not take good care of its citizens, I'm just a bit concerned because of what I'm hearing that our government here wants to do. I'm just concerned that when healthcare is free, those at the very top who make the decisions about who gets treated for what may not be able to keep the patient's best interests in mind. I hope you understand what I'm saying here, and I certainly don't want this to become a healthcare debate.
