Yesterday we had the hottest day of the year with 38°C (100F), the same temperature as in the Sahara dessert that day.

A good opportunity to do a little trip and rations "cook out"

Our little convoy

even after 8hrs at 100F outside, the beverages were still ice cold inside

Keep on driving

No, it´s the place I grew up. It´s Germany´s biggest mixed forrest called "Spessart" , the river is the "Main" in Northern Bavaria. The most famous place is the City of Lohr next to it. Where do you know "Lohr"?
From that little Lady:

Snow White was born in the city of Lohr

This is the castle in Lohr where the real story of Snow White took place:

The Iltis are genuine military so they all have 24V.

I had luck to get such a great mermite, the three inner containers were never used yet.
Only the British drive on the left of the road in Europa.

Olli's 'Road Trip' reminded me about this site, a photo journal of before and after WW2.
Note- this may be interesting, or depressing...
Lohr is mentioned on this page.

And part 2

Amazing !
I sure hope that big bomb has been deactivated...

The British had one on display for decades, until it was discovered to be 'live'...
A live Grand Slam bomb was accidentally displayed as a gate guardian at RAF Scampton for nearly fifteen years before the mistake was realised. It was gingerly removed (by crane and low-loader) to the test range at Shoeburyness, where it was detonated
OOPS!

That´s the place I was born

I was at the exhibition, it´s in the basement of the townhall of Würzburg and I think all bombs are defused

Way cool pics housil! One thing I'm curious about since I'm a cold war history addict, what former cold war bunkers or communication sites are in the areas you passed through and stopped in?
