Because I need a good phisical conditioning, due to my involvement in Search and Rescue, I kindly ask our british members to help me with some intel. I need some insights about training for UK special forces reservesm because it seems that I pass the requirments listed here:

http://www.army.mod.uk/specialforces/10558.aspx

"Candidates will be required to complete the following tests over the 4 day initial selection course:

CFT - 8 Miles (12.8km) carrying 25kg within 1 hr 50 min
Swim test - 500m using any stroke in uniform and retrieve an object from 5m
Gym tests
Advanced CFT 1 - 15km carrying 25kg
Advanced CFT 2 - 24km carrying 30kg "

Because I do weekly the CTF and Advanced CFT 1, I'd like to know the rest of the tests. Also, I'd like to have the program specified at the bottom of the page, if somebody will be able to get:

"A 12 week training programme will be sent to prospective candidates upon request."

I have alot of respect for those guys! They certainly earn their pay with what they go through in training and real world ops. Takes a special mindset to be able to do what they do, I know I'd never be able to get through it all.

It's not so hard, because your body will do that your mind say. Here's 20 millions citizens in Romania, and we are only 14 (yes, you read right, FOURTEEN) people in entire country with "emergency/desaster intervention technician" certification. It takes only will and determination. But is a downpart: it's addictive... You live in the tenth gear, don't want to stop and that's wear you... and the rest of the people don't understand. But is their problem, not mine.

What you said is very true, ak70. Your body can do amazing things if your mind is in shape for it. My military career consisted of being a crew member of tracked M-113 ambulance and later a humvee ambulance, and we did not do alot of physically exerting stuff besides move patients with the exception of desert storm. But it is amazing how good a shape the special ops people are in nearly every country.

In my time (Late 60's-early 70's) Special ops folks were more likely to be short, wirey types.
Nowadays, they remind me of 'The Incredible Hulk'!

What Happened?

They rely on "technology", Dirtbag. All countries provides some kind of transporation of its soldiers. You are not required to do very long marches often, only in tests. So, all your food is converted in and not consumed. Also, is a trend of that type of men to grow larger and larger, the small, wiry guys are home, playing video games. Only the "big dudes" have something to prove to himselves.

Sodjer, I'm 35 years old and I need the tests and the program only because I'm on a rescue diver school this summer and I want to keep in shape. I'm not joining reserve special forces, here is not such thing. Just read about it and thorought is a good idea for my physical training. Is a way to get that training program?
