Canoes and canoeing

Post by ak70g2 » Fri Mar 16, 2012 3:22 am

Because I'm an avid outdoorsman, I have the Danube river at half a click from my door and my father have carpentry as hobby, I kindly ask my fellow ration eaters to help me with some canoe building books, plans or drawings. I'd like to build a wood and fiberglass/canvas canoe to use on a slow and big river and lakes.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. :D

Building a nice canoe is very difficult, although there may be a kit.

Perhaps start with a raft, they are much more forgiving and work well for slow current/lakes

If you plan ahead you can even make a raft that you can take apart and fit in a vehicle, not so much with a canoe

My old man is very skilled, I was amazed watching him woodworking... He asked me for plans, he have some dried timber at hand, also he's an avid fisherman, he plan to share the canoe with me or to build 2 identical. So, because we're spreaded all over the world, maybe I'll find some members from Canada or Adirondaks who will help me. :D
