Any cigar smokers out there?

Post by fdsman » Tue Feb 01, 2011 3:21 pm

I've just started a small collection of smokes. Mainly Rocky Patel, Romeo y Julita, Olivia, Nub, Punch, Cohiba and a few Makers Mark cigars.

And possibly a few cuban Cohibas and Montecristos but dont' tell the US gov.

Anyone else here enjoy a good cigar now and again?

Ah. Such a curse it seems. I really wish we'd lift the trade embargo with Cuba. Obviously it didn't make things any better or worse for the Cubans.

Well, something is working, they're still living in the mid fifties!

I suppose. But the whole purpose was to make communism fail. And even though it isn't pleasant or comfortable for the inhabitants, they are surviving and getting goods and services from other countries. We are the only country on this planet who doesn't do business with them.

It's funny though because any Cubans you meet in the US are deeply vested in capitalism and freedom. It'd be cool to see a free Cuba under a democratic or republic system.

I suppose, but if the russians hadn't propped them up for so long, they'd have failed decades ago.

Gentlemen, I'm not in the mood to discuss politics right now. Let's return to our cigars. If FDsman started this thread, I think we can share our opinion. I've tried only Cohibas brought from Mexico by my first cousin, with some Bacardi Oro (Gold, in US). Because in Eastern Europe isn't a custom, what brand you reccomend and which drink you preffer to enjoy a good cigar?

The Cohibas found here in the U.S . are counterfeit ones made by the exile in Miami. They are not the real deal since any cuban product is considered ilegal thanks of years of a stupid embargo....

I usually get my handmade cigars from Puerto Rico which we produce them in a small scale but they are as good or better than the cubans.Any cigar coming from the Caribbean is good since the cigar making traditions are alive an well there.

Check these sites....

http://www.jfctobacco.net/
http://www.lagaritacigar.com/

They are all local cigarmakers from Puerto Rico.
Enjoy!

A good mellow dark rum Bacardi Reserva, Oro or any dark aged rum not the spiced crap (Capt. Morgan's etc...) If not a nice brandy or spanish "jerez de la frontera" would do. :D
Also try it with a nice cup of black coffee.....

Bypah, thank you for advices. I think I must search for some "sample packs" of cigars, they are hard to get here, but I'll ask at tobacco stores. Regarding alcohol, I'm a big rum fan, I've tried until now Bacardi (Oro is my favourite, but Anejo is good too) and Habana Club. I hate Cpt. Morgan's. I'd like to try Barbados' Mount Gay :D
