Stupid postal regulations

Post by ak70g2 » Mon Dec 13, 2010 8:35 am

'cause I sent today my Chrismas gift to my norwegian relatives (Norge and his family), I had a funny surprise at postal office: is cheaper to send a parcel to Nigeria than to Norway! The postal fee was actually double than last parcel I sent to Cracker, at same weight. Amazing...

Also, because I need to send a parcel to Bypah, postal regulation here allow a parcel with maximum weight of 0,453 kg (1 lb) to the USA. Do you know something like this elsewhere?

PS. Norge, regarding also your un-employement, I suggest you to move in an civilised country. Botswana or Zimbabwe seems indicated.

No, it's a temporary measure, lady from the postal office told me, so, I'll send Bypah just compass, flag and a map of Romania, the compass is pretty heavy, and the rest of the items I told him will be shipped at a later date.

The Department of Homeland Security in the United States issued a directive banning all incoming packages to private persons over 1lb. Bunch of fear mongering BS if you ask me. Not sure when it's getting lifted...

well, at least when you have your own busyness, I imagine you can get those packets mailed to you company instead of you own name, wrong?

That´s all I found about:

Effective as of the 22nd November all parcels heavier than 453gms bound for the United States will incur a $9.00 surcharge due to tighter security measures introduced by the United States government, these parcels may also be delayed by around 48 hours.

So there isn´t a "banning" to me. Phew...

Just for toner and ink, heavier than 1lbs and any parcels from Yemen etc!!!

HAHA, yes, it's just hard to imagine the rabbi of a US synagog ordering some ink cartidges from a country where they haven't seen a computer in the last centuries
