Hi!

Along the lines of the food thread, I would like to know what American nonfood products do our overseas members like.

Things like Zippo lighters, Magelite flashlights, GI paracord are just some items out for consideration.

What American products do you like?

Thanks,

crunchie

Most stuff I bought in America, say "Made in China", "Made in Vietnam", "Made in Bangladesh", "Made in..." on the tag.

American stuff is very popular over here at all - even Barack Obama. They are trend setting and "cool".

Heh :D yes, I know what you mean. Turn over the bottom of a product or look at the label and made in ??? is practically all that I find.

Aside from that, anyone have any American tools, knives, Surefire lights, Photon lights or any other USA made items that they like?

When I was overseas in south-east Asia I notices that is some American made goods. The thing is most of those goods are food as chips, milk products, dried fruits (California) and other stuff. I guess people do like Doritos anywhere around the world as it seems to sells. To sums it all, I guess the main export now a day from America is junk food and Hollywood films. This is only my observation when I go around shopping for stuff and such, so it's only one person's point of view.

About the maglites, and Zippo lighters I can't find anything like that in south East Asia. If you do find some "real" ones you got to pay an arm and a leg for them.

American made products... Let's see:

- Bates M9 desert assault boots: http://www.batesfootwear.com/US/en-us/P ... leryId=G-F

- Knives: SOG Seal Revolver (great knife, but sheath is crap as design), KaBar 1221 Next Generation fighter, USMC issue and SOG PowerLock EOD multitool.

- as usual, a USMC Zippo lighter.
