question for the shooters/hunters

Post by Cracker » Mon Sep 14, 2009 12:41 pm

I own a XR41 semi auto sporting rifle.. (HK41 / G3 clone)
But I'm looking for a bipod for the trapezhandschutz (triangular handguard) and I noticed there are some shooters / hunters lurking around on the forum :D

Bút.. I have a problem (big but) the prices go from €80 (!!!) to €340
The €80 ones are original HK bipods for the german bundesgrenzschutz, and the €340 are original american HK defence, brand new produced bipods..

But I think €340 is a bit expensive for a small part of onadjustable steel, that's why I'm looking for a cheap variant.
I don't really like the ProMag bipod (going for around €60) but it's an option aswell, when I can get it cheaper then that.

I prefer a original HK (surplus or a nice condition used one isn't a problem) or one from WTS
It's the G3 / HK91 / HK93 original bipod

Who of you guys could help me on the search to a nice bipod?
I'm desperately looking for them for the last few weeks, but I don't manage to find any.

The german sites offered brandnew surplus bipod for about €80.. but now the prices sky rocketed since a few weeks.. (€185 incl. the handguard)

I do not need the handguard though, only the bipod...

If you find one when your in your local gunstore, gunfair, etc etc, please ask for an internet adress or price..

I'm willing to pay a maximum of about €75 for it, excl. shipping (about $100)

Can you guys please keep an eye out for it?
US or Europe doesn't really matter, as long as they ship internationally

But they'll have to beat me to death with it because it's empty.

You might try Gunbroker.com auction site. Unknown if you can find one, or if the seller will ship to Europe, but everyone is honest there, unlike Ebay. Also try Sarco Inc.(New Jersey) and Numrich Gun Parts Corp.(New York). Also, most Gunbroker sellers will not accept Paypal.

I already found those :(

Gunbroker sellers don't ship internationally, and have payment problemens..
The sarco company doesn't sell the right one (and doesn't ship internationally)

Numrich has a decent price for a new one, complete with handguard, accepts paypal, and ships..... ...

... but it's sold out :( and it won't come available anymore

What are you going to do with the bipod like hunting or just target shooting? I used a bipod once and didn't like it. Whenever I shoot, I just bench or just shoot off hand. When I hunt, I always stand or sit and where I hunt, if you lay down, your looking at dirt cause it is so hilly. I am not that familiar the the G3 but does it have a bayonet lug? I've seen some bipods for the bayonet lug for cheap but I'm not sure if the lugs are kinda standardized being it was on a AR-15 related website.

No, it's for sport shooting and for later, DSR (dynamic service rifle)
And yes, I can have a bayonet lug, it's not on it at the moment, because it's a civil rifle, but you can buy ex-bundeswehr bayonet lugs..

BUT.. G3 bayonets have their bayonet lugs where a normal rifle would have it's gastube.. (HK doesn't use a gas tube, but a rollerbolt.. / rollenverschluss)

And partially, it's for the looks
(I have a HK tick.. and the G3 has numerous variants (handguards etc)

(and i know about the earprotectors, ordered a peltor, but this one simply wore out, it's and old one, so the "band" won't stay on your head)

I thought about buying a HK-91 in the early '80's, but bought a Springfield Armory M1A instead.
Now the HK is banned (because its black and has a pistol grip) while the identically functioning M1A is legal...
Can't own a AR-15, but I have a Ruger Mini 14...
Go figure.

Not yet..

Here's the same thing.. (as in germany)
A neutered (converted) G3 (to semi auto, from later then 2005) is a military rifle. And is strictly forbidden.
A HK41, 91 etc.. semi auto produced = civil = allowed..

And offcourse, a .308 from an M1A is less lethal then one from an HK  ... bureaucrates..
And those 20 round mags from an M1A contains alot less rounds then a 20 round HK mag...

Btw, I love the M14 type rifles, my father was about to buy a M1A national match, but chose for an SIG 551-2 SWAT black edition instead..

Probably found on in the Netherlands (used.. but fine)

Just came back from an accident..
A girl and a kid.. with a 25km/h scooter and a gear moped (Rieju RR) .. a dog walked on the road by incident, the girl avoided it, and the guy (boyfriend) tips her rear wheel..

girl just scrapes some asphalt, nothing serious.. the guy gets launched, because his moped frontwheel ticked to the side by the small hit.. so flies 5 meters..

We (mostly my mother) did some first aid (making sure he doesn't move etc).. and I called an ambulance..

I was put in hold for 4:30 minutes (!) the main room; switched to ambulance of eindhoven; switched back because it wasnt awnsered..

After just over 15 minutes.. (!) the ambulance arrived.. and it was about 1500 meters to the hospital (about one mile!!) with light traffic.. (including the 5 minutes on hold)

So I'm a bit dissapointed in our service.... he only seems bruised, and has some back and neck pain.. He'll be fine, but just to make sure.. But imagine if you have a heart attack, bleeding etc.. your pretty much screwed..

And yes, it doesn't have anything to do with this thread, but felt I had to share it
