Destiny or just luck? :D

Post by Garron » Sun Aug 30, 2009 2:20 pm

I went to a charity night at a local pub after work last night, there was a raffle/tombola thing going on, pick out a ticket if it matches thats your prize.... cost £1 for 1 ticket (all the money goes to a cancer charity so I didnt mind if I lost, worthwhile its for a good cause)

This was my prize... Menu G 2004 dated British pack :D
This prize for anyone else would have been practically useless.... not for me  Also Menu G is my favorite.

I was quite happy with that... now was it luck or were the ration gods looking down on me and giving me a gift?

I guess the Brit´s don´t use the US 4 digit code. I got a UK ration with a number >X365 so it can´t be a date.

@ Gaz:

First of all, congrat´s to it :D

As the GBP is pretty low, buying at Amazon UK is a bargain for us :D
I ordered several DVD´s.
My new favourit is:

Ross Kemp in Afghanistan.
This guy is join UK troop´s so close to combat - wow  You can hear bullet´s richochetting over their heads...
Very brave UK soldiers fight a close combat with/to Taliban terrorsist. I impresst about them! :!:

I used my last pound coin for this... if I use a note its gone, I just have a pocket full of change

I don't know what that code means, I was thinking prehaps the 5075 made in November 2004?? That just a guess.

Thanks, I was quite happy, it could have been a hairdryer or something girly
the bloke laughed as he handed it to me said 'Don't know what your going to do with it'.
Me; AWESOME!!!!!!! 'Eat it'
Him; What? really?
Me: Yeah sure, why not?
Him; You mad!
Me: Probably :D

@Housil,
He made a second series in Afghanistan, Called Ross Kemp: Return to Afghanistan http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ross-Kemp-Retur ... B001MBUSFS Its a follow on from the first one, the troops quite like him as he shows it for what it is, none of this edited crap, what you see is what you get. Thats what he was aiming for. A real picture of the conflict.

Garron,

You are lucky in that you won that ration for only a dollar. Saw the video, rather impressed. I did notice some US weapons being used by the UK. I had no idea they were commonplace such as the .50 Heavy machine gun. Impressive!

The Browning .50 has been used since WW-1.
I never heard anybody complain about having one around... as long as you don't have to carry it!
Heavy Bastige...
The Patrol boat I was on in Viet-nam had 4, in twin mounts. Yee Haw !
Plus a 76 MM (3 inch) and a 40 MM Bofors...

I ordered the box set with both of ´em

Yesterday I sent another order to Amazon UK. Some more DVDs.

Iraq - The Marines from Lima Company

and

Over there

It´s cheaper to by them both in UK and let them ship over here than buying just one of them at Amazon Germany

:( I tried the same thing last week garron..

I ended up with an nasal hair trimmer (like.. what the?!) and a can...... of pencils :o
Does anyone know how canned pencils taste like?
Sure, someone may one day kill me with my own gun.
But they'll have to beat me to death with it because it's empty.

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

We use a few US weapons, I think we have used the .50 for a long time, most of fighter aircraft had them in ww2 before moving on to 20mm Cannons. We did use the .30 browning too for a while as our machine gun ware watercooled and weighed quite a lot. Easier to use on armoured vehichles.

Ahh right Housil, I didnt click the link, just saw the title.

Another one to get would be Marines: commandos on the front line, it follows a group of recruits who have joined the Royal Marines through day 1 basic trainning and when some are deployed out to Afghanistan at the end. I really enjoyed it.

Canned pencils.... they might be ok with some tabasco but too crunchy for me
