Is any off you guys from the forum walking the 4day march from Nijmegen, the Netherlands?
I know a lot of international people are there, but if there are some forum members I'd might be able to hand out some Dutch rations.

It's a large event with many military personnel and civilians walking a 30, 40 of 50km hike (depends on your own .. or employers  choice and your age..)

We're going for the 50km hike.. (32 miles)
I will only carry dry biscuits from the dutch 24h and some dextrose tablets, together with some german rehydrationpowder to drink. And offcourse some paté from the rations for on the biscuits..

Dinner is taken care off  so I'm not stuffing any extra weight in my backpack.. except for some water..

It's from 21 tot 24 juli in Nijmegen the Netherlands.. (the ones that walk the 4daagse will know that already though)

I wish I could. Some guys from my unit, 4/16th Inf. Big Red One, Cooke Barracks, Goeppingen, FRG, did the Nijmegen march in 1987. :)

Well, you are old enough to drink beer anyway. Drink a Stuttgarter Hofbrau, for me, if you can get them in Holland. 8) :D

I had Grolsch, is a good dutch lager beer but is difficult to get here. Is eclipsed by Heineken pilsner....
Also had Lowenbrau, good german beer (not the american version)

But my favorite is a cold pint of Guinness.....

Löwenbräu is from the place I was born (München) and it's a rather good beer.. But I have to admit I'm a "bitter" beer drinker..

I prefer strongtasting lagers (pilsener over here in Europe) like Grolsch, Beck's etc..
The American beers are unfortunatly very waterish to me, so I really dislike them. But it's simply a regional taste, and if you grew up with that, you'll be less likely to like "my" beers.

Same as Heineken.. Heineken, Grolsch, Bavaria (my local beer.. in the Netherlands.... like what the heck?) and Beck's brew a american styled beer for export.. The export Grolsch tastes a lot less bitter then the "local" Grolsch around here, because most americans simply think the bitter taste is awfull..

I actually don't drink Heineken at all.. we always joke around here horses drink Grolsch and piss Heineken, and that Heineken is only brewed for export and tourists

If you'd ever come to the Netherlands I'd be happy to take you to a pub here in town, they have a variaty of 1001 worldwide beers.. we could do an evening off very serious beer testing, and choosing which was best of the 1001 beers

I don't want to offend anyone but compared to the European beers, I find the American beers are like... making love on the beach ... 8)

Fish smell, sand in your buttcrack, and the sun burning down on you?

I'd rather stick with the European beers then

No it's simply what you grew up with, it's very normal to dislike tastes if you are not used to them..
(who liked beer anyways when they were young????)
