Hello, yesterday my co-worker and friend came back from our companys US location in Morganton/NC and Henderson/ NC, which he visited for one week, with a case of my absolute chewnig gum favorites.
The american gums are great !

Like everything also chewing gum is a matter of taste but for me those two types can`t be beaten by any other types and it tasted many different types.
Those two hold there flavoring for a very long time and they are so tasty

Kman, if we drive "a couple of hours" we are devently in a other country for sure - maybe on a different continent.

Even worse than that - this past summer, we went to one of the North Carolina beaches for the first time. We drove 7 hours and never left the state. It was weird even for me...I'm used to going through three or four states in that much time.

Oh course, we're talking US highway speeds of 70 MPH or so...not those crazy German autobahn speeds of 120 MPH.

California is over 1000 miles top to bottom, probably 18 hours or so to drive it !

kman,thank you for your offer but I have enough MRE over here in Germany.
There are other things which are more difficult to get over here than MRE

But I`m lucky that my colleague is often there or in other US states and also that he have a big case

as you and housil wrote about the distance I had also one experience some years ago at the border of Arizona and Utah. We have been at the Zion Nat. park lodge and had the idea for a side trip to the Monument Valley.
we just had a cheap map and it looked like the distance is about one or one and a half hour then we drove for hours...

I was asking a police officer at Miami for the way.
He asked me "Do you know Fire Deparment HQ?"
"Yes I know where that is"
"The store you are lokking for is next to it"

We went a couple of times around that HQ building, couldn´t find that stores.

HQ is at 42nd Street, the shop was at 125th - real "next" to it... American sizes

You're right about the distance, now I understand why my local colleagues were laughing when I said "I'm going to walk to the supermarket"

yes you are right...the american sizes....everything is larger,bigger...ah... one moment...

the favorite bavarian Brezels and the beer (mugs),even if you can find them, have not our big size
