'Police on Monday were trying to figure out exactly how a 23-year-old driver in a town near Chemnitz managed to crash his car into a church roof seven meters off the ground.'

Nope - to far...
But we have been at this:
A truck driver overlooked a construction cordon on Interstate (Autobahn) A3.
He crashed thrue the barrier, drove over the already memolished bridge,
flew with his 40 tons truck over a 6mtrs "hole" to land on the other side, loosing all his wheels, engine bay "instead" of falling down 16mtrs...
See video and pics from our
local news:

Wie tat er den? Wurde der lastwagenfahrer getrunken? oder war es das Wetter?

I ch nicht verstehen den voll Artikel
How did he do that?, Was the truck driver drunk? Or was it the weather?

I don't understand all of the article.
I saw that car on british news and wondered how on earth you could get your car to jump 7 meters up... lucky the church was there really or it might have ended worse for the driver.
I think both should become stunt drivers now, if you can jump a 40 ton truck or crash a car into a church 7 meters up, you have the experience

(Currenlty being snowed in again!)

The Autobahn goes "downhill" there, makes you faster and faster...
...right before you enter the bridge
There is a hugh construction.
They made a new bridge, LEFT BESIDE the old one (blue line).
The truck driver went (better crashed) STRAIGHT thrue the barriers (red line). Why he didn´t saw all the lights, roadsignes, all other making a left turn - nobody knows.
It was late in the evening, that polnish fellow was far from home, driving for hours and hours and hours...
All the asphalt-lane had already been removed from the concret "frame", just the "skelleton" was left over.
He "slided" with his truck over a single 50cm "weide" concrete "beam" to the other side
Better?

Thanks a lot, that clears it up. He was very lucky but must have been travelling at a high speed to jump that gap.

Not a single hair got bent...
Nobody noticed that.
A police car stopped on the other side on the bridge for a flat tire car. They accidently discovered that (dark) truck and the shocked and confused driver.
Fire deparments ladder got him down.
Latest pics:
Air few:

At
1, the truck crashed thrue the barrier.
Green line: trucks way thrue the whole construction area
Feb 28th, they will blow the bridge.
We´ll be there, oposite hill, with camcorder...

As the driver was a (polnish) foreigner, German authorities can´t take him away his drivers license

He will get a "ticket" twice expansive than a German driver would get and IF he was drunk, a driving ban for Germany - but will keep his polnish license

having a few polish friends/neighbours and having been there, I guess the Polish license must allow to drive drunk
