Hey yeah I'm fine, Rumors of my death have been highly exaggerated .

I live further west than all the snow right now but thats supposed to change tonight. So the TV has said anyway. I'm at University right now and my house here is near the sea on the coast so theres less chance of it sticking to the ground and building up. Its snowed quite heavily for a while then it stopped and it never stuck, just melted away roads and sidewalks are clear.
Back home is another story my house is 1300ft/430m above sea level and the snow is quite heavy. Most of the mountain roads are closed and the so are schools and some offices.

Stupidly all my packs are back home being snowed in, at least my parents will have somthing to eat . Here with me I have 1 MRE (2007 WITH SPICED POUND CAKE inside ) and 1/2 a British pack here but I have 20 Litres of bottled water plus tins of beans, corned beef, spam, and most importantly Pot Noodles (US equivelent would be like Ramen noodles in a cup).

Also have my British army boots, East German Fur Hat and a Bundeswehr Flecktarn Winter Jacket (Very warm and comfortable).

6 days later and theres still lots of snow about, you would think it had just fallen. Very little has melted except on the road and sidewalk. It has snowed a few times more since Housil made the thread and heres a pic with the snowman we made yesterday.

I'm 20 and don't remember the weather ever being like this. The snow normally melts after about 2 days, its been nearly a week and they have forcast a little more snow for tonight.

Taken back home in the Valleys at about 1300ft above sea level.

I'm 5ft 10 (178cm) the snow man was just shorter than me. Taken yesterday
I'm wearing the bundeswehr jacket. Friends pictured at just over 6ft tall (183cm)

and attempt at a panoramic type image from the view at the top of my street. Taken 2 days ago.

This field jackets are good. Do you have the liner that comes with it? Same material than the "old" sleeping bags.





After the walk we had, the pullover + liner + field jacket were to much (to warm) ...

Its very warm and the best bit of army kit I have, The liner was made in 1992 and jacket in 1991 and both are still doing thier job very well.

Mine is size 175-185/100 (5ft8 to 6ft and 39inch chest). As its worn over the FDU its quite generous as is my British rip stop smock/jacket that 180-190/100 (5ft 9inches -6ft 2inches 39 chest) and fits fine over the liner.

My pants are 8, my Feldblusen, Feldjacken etc. 7 (176cm tall, 83kg)

You´ll need that goretex jacket too. The liner is made to be worn under it also.

Will XXL fit?
The Flecktarn parka is available up to size 11 (Ger. civilan 56 US XXL)

Yes size 8, Gr Nr8 is on the label.

I like the Flecktarn pattern, I found flecktarn works quite well where I live. In the summer/autumn the grass and plants on the mountains dies and the flecktarn colours are more common. It works great in Bracken (Ferns) covered areas as when it dies its a very similar shade of rusty brown Flecktarn uses.
British DPM green, black and tan works more in the wooded areas.

XXXL - the XXL depends on the garment maker.Some garments run bigger than others .
If not I simply collect the caps... ( which i do!!!)
