Hello folks,

I'm new to Mre's and am looking for a reliable place to puchase them. Plus looking for some chit chat .

Welcome to the forums, sentinel!

What kind of MREs are you looking for? If you're looking for the civilian MREs, we can definitely point you towards some reliable sources.

But if you're looking for the military version, it's hard to come by a "reliable" source for those. I've had good luck with buying them on eBay but it's always buyer-beware there. There have been some legitimately surplussed MREs that you could buy online from a couple of different places but those supplies are usually limited.

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm looking for something with a long shelf life affordable and in case[ yes I'm one of them] everything goes to hell and we have to survive some bad times.

It sounds like either the military MREs or some of the civilian versions would fit your bill. For the military versions, you'll just have to keep an eye on eBay auctions and jump on the ones that are at a decent price with good shipping.

There's been a seller on eBay lately with Ameriqual APack (civilian) MREs for sale. You can get those cases for $25-$30 with $20 flat rate shipping and that's a pretty good deal considering those MREs go for about $70 before shipping from Ameriqual's site and from other vendors.

I wouldn't worry too much about long shelf life - as long as you buy fairly current MREs and store them in a cool, dry place, they should last you 7 years easily. Actually, they could last much longer than 7 years, but 7 years is the number I use for my own personal supply...after that many years, do you really want to trust your family's well-being to rations that old? Sure, they *could* be good, but I'd rather be sure.

Current I´m eating my 2002/2003 MREs without any problems :!: as long as the TTI is still OK

Once again thanks. I'll be checking into Ameriqual APack.

I just wanted a supply that I knew I could keep around a little longer.

I currently keep a nice supply of canned and boxed food around. With the way our country and gov. seem to be headed it's better safe than sorry.

Welcome Sentinel! Gad to see a fellow Northen Kentuckian on the boards (I'm in Florence).

You might want to try some of the EverSafe meals. I have picked up a couple cases in the past from Wornick at their Blue Ash facility. Also ArmyGear.net has two cases for $89. With shipping it is usually still under $120 for me.

Welcome to the forums Y'all

I seem to recall reading somewhere that current and retired military personnel with PX privileges can purchase MREs there. So if you know anyone that is at present serving or has in the past they might be able to help you out.
