In the UK most people pick and choose what they like the normal is, there is 'no set meal'

Meat; Turkey, Pork, Beef, Lamb, Chicken... whatever you like really, same with the vegetables

Boiled Potatoes,
Roasted Potatoes,
Peas,
Sprouts (Horrible mini cabage things),
Carrots,
Roast parsnips,
Mini Sasuages wrapped in bacon
Yorkshire puddings ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yorkshire_pudding )
Also
Sweet potatoes are becoming more popular.

for Dessert,

Cake,
Gatteux (Blackforrest, Chocolate, Summer Fruits ect)
Christmas pudding (a heavy, alcohol soaked spiced fruit cake, with custard or brandy sauce)
Its up to you for whatever you want with this as well.

In the UK a Christmas dinner is just a larger sunday roast... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunday_roast

Plenty to pick from... if you had everything listed, you would be very full and need a very big plate :D

I was just looking at the Fiskeboller. Google Translate changed that to "Fish Buns," and the text came out as "A real American life right. An easy and convenient way to get in on the fish. Small fish bowls in a beautiful white sauce."

Is this intended to represent American food?

Hey, sprouts are GOOD :P
The only problem is that people often don't cook them well.
We once had some sprouts with a pheasant cooked by British a friend of us, my wife and I still remember that meal years later !
BTW, Gaz, don't you forgot the chestnuts?

Norge, what's the white “sausage” at the bottom of last picture?
Is it what the German call Weisswurst and the French “boudin blanc” or a kind of dumpling, knoedel or quenelle?
Boudin blanc, thinly minced white meat (poultry, pork...) mixed with bread crumb, milk, etc... and placed into a gut as any sausage. That's a part of the typical French Xmas meal.

I guess you are right, it seems like "Weisswurst" or some veal sausage to me. Nothing to fry, just to warm up

@Stef:
Are Knoedel (potatoe dumplings) are common in French?
A German way to feed a child is "dumpling with sauce", more favorite than fries over here :D

@Norge.
Looks very nice and delicious to me, especially that piece of "pork belly" :wink:

the sausage is fine minced pork meat with herbs that we use in the xmas time
dont think they use bread crumbs in it,more like potato flour to bind it togeather.

btw: boil the sprouts good, drain water and add fryed crisped bacon bits with the
fat over the sprouts, have mashed potatoes with it, yumi!
even my kids eat them when we do this :mrgreen:

cheers norge
