one item was:

i dont sell items i havent tested myself. so i ran into the magnesium fire starting tool today. as i saw it i was wondering how to use - but one look at the packaging and everything was fine. so i started some fires with it.
it works that easy and solid - i have to say it was very windy today.
i wont miss it anymore. i put one in my car and one to my backpack-equipment. its really a great tool!

@jfko6: a saw - thats a great idea! but how often did you cut yourself with it because the magnesium is a little bit hard to hold when you saw it?

As military items are usally packed in an "unspectacular" way, why is this one packed in an "ordinary" way for civil sale and civial available?

I know. You can get them in every Army-, Outdoor-, XYZ-store.
I checked the NSN, and:
>> Search results for: "4240-01-160-5618"
So I´m sure it´s genuine and issued, but the only (?) genuine Army item sold everywhere with NSN markings?!

I have one of them and I love it. The only hard thing is to get the pile of magnesium.

the way is do it: turn the knife and fix it with your hand on the ground - pull the magnesium block in 90 degrees of the edge. it makes good flakes.

otherwise: have a look at the HEATER MEALS - they also have a NSN but they are "commercial"
