Agreed, i was torn at first viewing , perhaps wanting to see Mel Gibson or a continuation of the last.....But the overal distopian feel and massive sets, of-played with Amazing action, blew me away. The whole blood bag concept was great. Naming a tumor and having a cyborg be the female lead, WOW! Ive watched it more than Thunderdomd now, lol.

I went into it just hoping that they would do the Mad Max name justice and they exceeded my expectations and then some.

I look forward to hopefully seeing Hardy in the role as Max again in the future.

Never saw the connection as BSG being post-apocolyptic. Thanks for the insight. I was, back in the day, one of those who protested the cancellation of the original. Got a response from the network. Wish I still had it.

Did not like some of the character changes for the reboot, so I remain allegiant to the original.

I know this isn't really post apocalyptic but if you liked the reboot BSG then you should check out the current SyFy series called The Expanse. It really gives the same well depicted, gritty, space fiction story with a touch realism. It's also a book series which is also excellent. Third season will be airing this summer. I think you can catch the previous seasons on Netflix UK (not in the US) and Amazon Prime Video (in the US)

i was a fan of the original as well - Lorne Green just added so much "gravitas" - i seem to remember the first few episodes were really good, then they veered off into the "alien-of-the-week" territory and sadly for me that "took" me out of the world they were trying to create. Much like the writing in The Walking Dead which shifted tone when Darabont left and now to me seems to be relying on "tricks" over character development to keep the weekly ratings up.

what appeals to me about the re-booted BSG is the focus on the human story with the technology remaining in the background. The series creator, Ron Moore spent time in the Navy and that reflects in how the crew of the Galactica act. Probably one of the many reasons the series had a strong military following. Moore decided to dispense with the "parsecs" and other made up lingo from the original series and rooted it in a reality we're familiar with so all the audience had to do was focus on the story in the comfort of familiar terms.
