100% Polyester fabrics can be dangerous when exposed to excessive heat and flame. They do not ignite easily but once aflame, hard to put out and creates a hot flaming melty mess (AKA, super-ouch). I hope they are supplying burn ointment to soldiers (maybe a new MRE addition ).

Perhaps they are coating the fabric with some kind of permanent retardant.

Wool, on the other hand, is naturally flame resistant
