The reason I posting this is, because of personal reason's. The mother of the four children work's in a nail salon 2 door's down from the store I work in. She shop's in our store all of the time. My sincerest and heartfelt condolences go out to her and her family.

That's horrible. The death penalty is too lenient for people like this.

Wow, this is why we need to bring back the gladiator's arena.. let these guys fight until they die so we can all enjoy watching it.

Nah, no need to make such a big spectacle of it - that'll just teach more people to enjoy watching other people die. I say give them a trial and if they're found guilty, take them out back of the courthouse and shoot them in the head. Sounds harsh, but the current system of coddling these mass murderers for the next 30+ years isn't really helping much.

Yeah, you're right but I'm all about American Gladiators right now, I'm really glad they brought that show back even if the gladiators aren't as good this time. Knowing that after you kill someone you get to sit in a cell by yourself for many years is not a very good deterrent.. public hangings on the other hand..

You must be pretty f-ed in the head if you kill four children. I can only imagine what their mother must feel like right now. Losing one child is hell, losing four is unbearable.

Life in prison, or death penalty, i don't care. As long as he will never walk in freedom again. From what i hear prison in the US (compared to prison in the Netherlands) is no picknick and death is just the easy way out. So i might prefer life in prison. But anyway, people who are crazy enough to do these things, won't be deterred by any type of punishment.

I'm in agreement with Kman. Since when did we as a society end up coddling these mass murders. I'd say let the punishment fit the crime.

What I'm suggesting is just the other end of the spectrum from what we have now. Right now, we have a justice system that allows for capital punishment and yet has so many loopholes and venues for endless appeals that death row inmates rarely ever have to face their punishment (Texas being a notable exception).

Or take a look at a place like New Jersey where even though they've had the death penalty since the 1970s never did execute anyone. They finally abolished the death penalty there recently and at least now their justice system mirrors reality - kill all you want in New Jersey - kill cops, kill judges, kill children...whoever you want - and they'll just put you back in prison with your buddies.

And don't even get me started on how various execution methods constitute "cruel and unusual punishment". Electrocution and lethal injection can take a few minutes and can certainly be screwed up...but they get the job done eventually. If you don't like that, hanging and firing squad are centuries-old tried and true methods and generally take less than a second. There's just no "nice" way of ending someone's life when they don't want you to end it.

As you might have picked up, I'm all for the death penalty, but don't tell me you have the death penalty if you aren't willing to use it. If that's the case, be up front and say you won't use it. The current system of putting inmates on death row for 20+ years just drags out the misery for the victims' families.

So is "take them out back and shoot them in the head" harsh? Sure. But the opposite of that is "convict them but never execute them" and that's not been working out so well.
