Some of you are old enough to grew up during the "cold war" and still remember the "iron curtain". Last weekend was a military camp at a former US observation point called "Point Alpha" where ths US Army was observing towards "east" and peek for the oncoming Russian invasion via the so called "Fulda gap"
Thats the US tower
behind the fence the former east German watch tower
The east German side of the border, that "road" was made for border guard troops only
View from east towards west
the place back in 1973, (west) German border Police guarding the border
An east German one man observation bunker
these were made to watch out for East German citizens trying to flee into the West
We were a party of five vehicles and did a 365km trip that day at 31°C...
and arrived at the camp site
my favorite, a German Bundeswehr "TFK250" field kitchen somebody had set up there
That place
