umm,
whats the problem with dollar and euro difference in the last couple of months???
its much more difficult now to sell anything overseas if you live in europe, but very easy to buy stuff from the states, you will get more for your money as before...
whats behind all this? and how to fix it?

Hopefully we have an economist or two lurking on the forums and they can explain it better to us. Until this, here's at least one article I found on Forbes.com:

Olli, I have the same problem. I used to sell several items a month on Ebay, but since 3-4 month I quit selling due to the low dollar-euro exchange rate. US buyers are not willing to pay for the extreme postage, and I do not blame them.
The reason for the low dollar rate is very simple: it follows the laws of supply and demand. Since decades people wanted to have dollars, but since 1 or 2 years nobody wants them anymore. Supply is greater than demand and so the price of the dollar sinks.
What is more worrying are the reasons of the low demand. I guess it has to do with a lack of trust in the dollar, or more serious, the lack of trust in the United States, its leaders and policies. Many people now realise that the US government has created a debt of over a trillion dollars. It is said that per day the debt increase average a 1.5 billion dollars. (Look at the US National Debt Clock).
If this is true than the US is in fact bankrupt.

Well, I guess it's time for the Europeans to take over... Providing wellfare to the world.
Or, perhaps, you could start paying back all the 'Loans' given to you over the last 100 years...
Oh, yes, and you all can now take over policing the world also, send your kids to exotic places to be killed.
And the next War ? Defend yourself ! we'll stay home...
Sheese !

What are you getting mad about? It's not Europe's fault the dollar is devaluating. We didn't ask you to invade Afghanistan and Iraq. We didnt make you create both an enourmous budget and trade deficit. We didnt made you choose Bush as your leader who in turn made everybody lose faith in the dollar. Dont get mad at Europe just because we tell you how the reality is now. The dollar *is* devaluating because of lower trust in that currency. We didnt cause ANY of this. Dont get mad at us for pointing out the cold hard truth.dirtbag wrote:Well, I guess it's time for the Europeans to take over... Providing wellfare to the world.

And Europe is NOT the same as the US. Somebody living in the US feels American. Somebody living in Europe does not feel European. You are the biggest country, so it will stay your 'job' to police the world. You only police the world so you will stay the most powerful. If the Netherlands would be the biggest Western country, i'd be happy to 'police' the world as you do now.
We all know the US *wants* to be the only superpower. So as long as you are, you are gonna have to 'police' the world, protect your allies and stuff like that. And its total bullshit to start talking about WOII. The US didnt even account for 100% of the removal of the nazis. It was the russians who did most of the fighting and who basically crippled the Wehrmacht. And the US only took part in the war after it had been attacked. A lot has changed since then. The current US is not the US which liberated Europe.
The time for US as superpower is coming to an end though. That is ig they dont find something to replace oil. But i'm sure this will become clear in the very near future. Just keep your eye on the gasprices.
In the mean time, i thank the US for everything it has given me, including technology, entertainment, food and ofcourse MRE's. I sincerely hope you will get your shit together and stay in power. I'd really hate to see Putin, Chavez, Ahmadinejad or Jintao take over.
And i do have to admit, without all the wars the US have been fighting, they'd never develop the MRE to what it is today. I wish you all the best.

If "you" will stay at home - there will be no further war...dirtbag wrote: And the next War ? Defend yourself ! we'll stay home...![]()

(This shouldn´t be an offense against you!!)
But I prefer to be "ruled" by the US than by China, Russia or the Islam (we have enough of "them" here)...

I guess thats not the right way nor place to sort it out with reproaches (found no better word - sry)

@ Olli
I´m just a little paramedic, I can´t explain you the coherences between the exchange rates, the oil price, the national debt, the ENRON-scandal etc. - I´m not an econemist.
I´m just smart enough as Stef said: buy now - don´t sell!

Wow, this thread may go nowhere fast and ruffle a lot of feathers in the process. Can we skip the arguing, finger pointing, and chest beating, and just get back to eating 10 year old military rations? (burp!)
I don't know about you guys, but I'm always curious to see what Norge will attempt to poison himself with next!
......And just how does mreheater open those C-Ration cans so cleanly
