This is a screenshot from an awesome Russian sci-fi mini-series. Just look at the carnage, all of those Russian rations. I think I speak for all of us when I say, rest in peace.

I watched it this weekend. Pretty good movie - and not what I was really expecting at all! Just the first five minutes was enough to set the scene and style of the movie and then ramp up the tension.

However, I did miss that ration scene (on the road)...but I did catch the one where they were in the apartment eating a bunch of rations.

I've been trying to catch up on Russian movies lately. "Salyut 7" and "Sputnik" were pretty darn good. But "T-34" has probably impressed me the most in terms of just being a kick-ass war/action movie with amazing graphics:

Also, it's a slightly unfair comparison to make, but in general, these three movies match up to similar US movies like this:

Salyut 7 = Apollo 13
Sputnik = The Thing
T-34 = Fury

I'm not at all saying these Russian movies are copies of the US movies - they're each unique. I'd put Salyut 7 on par with Apollo 13 and would say T-34 was much better than Fury.
