Looking for recommendations on Jap or Korean hard candy

Post by JediMindTricks » Sun Oct 13, 2019 8:56 pm

Hey guys. I figured I would ask this because we have a whole bunch of people who like to try foreign foods.
I really like hard candies, and I am looking for recommendations for some delicious, long lasting, Japanese or South Korean hard candies.
I wish I had friends in those countries who could send me sample packs, the retail sample packs cost way way too much.

By long lasting, I mean...for example jolly ranchers are long lasting.

Thanks!

I guess you're the only one besides me interested in Japanese or Korean candy, thank you Mike.

I'm interested as well, but the closest Asian market is pretty far from me.

There are a couple So. Am. / Mexican shops close by...I will take a look

I find Japanese candy usually has more flavor, and things like gum the flavor lasts longer. Japanese milk candy is a very traditional candy, also sugar cane candy that is amber or dark amber in color. The only Japanese candy I don't care for is another traditional candy, shaped like tiny little sea mines, different colors, but all just taste like just sugar (called Konpeito). Thing is, Japanese candy tends to come in a lot more flavors than American candy. They even have dozens of Kit Kat flavors. I think there are like 82 pages of Japanese candy on Amazon, many are assortments.

I'm well-versed in Korean and Japanese confectionery, as I've lived in Japan and was born in Korea. What sort of flavor profile are you looking for?
