How sad a fate! The US Army Base in Augsburg / Germany

Post by German_EPA » Sun Aug 19, 2007 9:24 pm

hi all

(i just want to write it of my soul...)

this is really a sad story... the next us army base from me here in bavaria was AUGSBURG. it impressed me every time we drove past the US ARMY BASE. and every year the german-american public festival - a real dream. but since about 5 year it isnt anymore. the US ARMY removed from AUGSBURG. there only left the empty army barrack. today nearly all the building pulled over.

when you drive through some districts of augsburg today you can see the impact the us army - and the soldiers made with augsburg. my mind is augsburg isnt really augsburg without the army...

by the way: have a look at this great site before they shut it down foerever (last guestbook entry was 2004...):

http://www.us-army-augsburg.de/

this pictures are from this site too:

under the picture it says: "1000 of rations after the maneuver" :!:

:D :D :D

and here another story: how i got my first MRE and CYALUME snaplight

i git my first MRE and CYALUME snaplight from soldiers of the us army at a maneuver here in my town. all the tanks, trucks and so on - and in the middle of all i am standing with a mre... man i was happy

Hey EPA, give me a report on the "Planet Gerp". Cooke Barracks, Goeppingen. I know the US gave it back to Germany about 1993. What do you all do with it now??? I stayed in the long bldg. in the back. Is the flugplatz back into operation, as a civilian mountain top airfield? :?:

Cool, Olli. I guess the Badem-Wurtemburg division of the Stadt Politzei has their practice pistol range out back. We used to go practice with our pistoli's we bought from the Rod und Gun Club. Hope they do something with the place. Too valuable ground.
