Re: Remembering Family Heros
They’re supposed to send you an e-mail of the status of your request or final result of the search. Doubtful they’re essential workers in this pandemic so hang on to your request. I hope you get something.
Albany was closed for me and an unrelated request.

Re: Remembering Family Heros
They always have sent me a letter either way. No word is not an answer. I don’t know what I received was the complete file and the most important record was missing — the DD214.
Whatever I get or don’t receive am going to try and reconstruct. Some records it turned out where in the hands of other family members which helped put the puzzle back together. And other files I have turned up some interesting information which I might post here usefully. Depends.
I received a confirmation if my original request letting me know they received it.

Viper, I did the request as well. It took them about six weeks I think before I got a letter in the mail saying my grandfathers records were lost in the fire in the seventies but they did confirm that there was an alternative record available called a "Final Pay Stub" that had some very valuable information, dates and his signature. I had to submit for that one separately and had to pay like $20 bucks. Shoot me a PM and I'll share with you what I got so you may know what to expect if your interested. Maybe you'll get lucky and the records will be there! I think the letter said like 80% of WW2 related records were lost in that fire.
