Re: Remembering Family Heros

Prior to the Second World War, my grandfather sailed to America on the RMS Laconia. Later the ship was sunk by a German U-Boat. Some images of the ship below. It appears luxurious. A brief account by my grandfather of the voyage I received was people endured hardship during the voyage due to illness. That fate did not befall my grandfather. A feature film was made. Though he may have learned the Laconia’s fate, it was never mentioned to me.

The Army Air Force falls under the purview of the Army. I honored my grandfather through the US Army registry and is a great way to honor an Army Veteran. I also honored my Uncle who died in the Navy.

Army Air Corp/ Air Force is always what I have used for ww2, because the names were interchangeable at that time. AAC offically ended in 46 or 47, i think

Gramps was 42 to late 44, so AAC

World War II - Beades

Grandfather Cpl Beades in WWII era photo. Location unknown. Because I was lucky that some of his records survived the building fire of the records administration, I discovered one of his training locations included Ft. Benning in Georgia.

I know some people don’t always have the best of relationships with their relatives. I was fortunate that my grandfather was a good man. Lest I be remiss in my notation and having experience and study in how people interact, downsides in familial relationships can be worked out, in someway or in sometime. Some good can always come.
